near Halsey. The train ran into

The fireman killed was a sober,
straightforward youn man, and
had been on the road but a short
time, having took the place of the
late fireman Guthrie. He was to
have been married in a short time.
The engine was the same one
wrecked at the Lebanon switch,
causing the death of Engineer Mil
ler and fireman Guthrie.
Railroad engineers, like seamen,
are a little superstitious, and the
number of the engine had been
changed, but this particular engine
seems to be as ill-fated since the
change as it was before.
