Fell Heir to a Foituae.
The Oregonian is authority for
the statement that I. C. Dickey,
at one time sheriff of Linn countv,
now an officer at the state peniten
tiary at Salem, has fallen heir to
c fortune of a little over $40,000.
The death of his father, in New
York state, at a good old age,
leaves Mr. Dickey a third interest
in an estate valued at $125,000.
Of courso, no man rejoices at the
decease of his parents, even when
their sands are feebly run, but this
is inevitable and it must be a con
solation to any man who hears tho
inevitable to know that he can
leave his children well provided
with the world's goods. Mr.
Dickey returns East to receive this
estate and his friends hope he will
not be willing or able to forget his
home in Oregon.
