which the wheel was forever retreat

spied a log cabin, and shortly wan
dered over through the brush in that
direction. A rail fence stopped his
progress a couple ot rods from the
doorway; and he leaned over and
looked. 'There, sitting outside the
door on a bench, were two girls. One
was spinning wool and the other
knitting. They were the most beau
tiful things he had ever seen, and he
nearly died right there. They saw
him aud burst out laughing at his
remarkable appearance. He didn't
know what to do, but thought it was
probably the proper thing to stare at
them and laugh back, which he did
with interest This mutual enter

so hard she roiled off the bench. He
thouuht that was queer, but just thou

He turned around. As he did so
both girls shrieked with laughter and

Ten Hints For the Hoiiftowife.
A scientific journal gives ten good
things worth kuowiug:
Salt curdles milk and should not be
added until the dish is prepared.
Clear boi'in water will remove
fruit and tea stains.
Ripe tomatoes will remove ink and
other stains from white cloth and
also from the hands.
A tablespoon! ul of turpentine added
while boiling clothes wiil tid the
whitening process.
Boiled starch is much improved by
the addition of a little sperm, sale or
dissolved gum arabic.
That beeswax and salt will make
rusty flat irons as elean and smooth
as glass.
Blue ointment and kerosene, m
equai proportions, applied to bed
steads is an untailing bag remedy.
Kerosene will soften boots and
shoes when nardened with water and
t en Jer them pliable.
Kerosene will make tea kettles as
bright as new; satuiate a woolen rag
and rub with it.
Cool tain water and soda will re
move machine grease from washable
fabrics.
