TJJB CROP- WJSA Tit BR REPORT
The crop-weather bulletin No.
15 issued by R. S. PaRtie, of the U.
S. signal service bureau at Port
land for tbe week ending June 15, :
says : The temperature nas oeen
above the normal from 8 to 12
degress. There was no rain fall
during the week. The sunshine
was about the average. The winds j promised
up to Friday were northerly, warm
and dry, in sections beh.2 almost
:t "norther," on Friday and Satur
day they were southerly. The
effect of these conditions on the
wheat crop has been most injurious
especially in Eastern Oregon. In
the Willamette Valley the fall
wheat continues its promising out- (
look, while in localities the spring j AU.E,.S
wheat is slightly injured. Along
the coast the excellent crop pros-;
nects continue, lu the Uinpqua
valley more than an average
wheat crop will be harvested ; in
the Rogue river valley the crop is
to a considerable extent injured ;
in many sections however an
average crop will be realized, while
Rbpobts from The Dalles and
other portions of Eastern Oregon
are to the effect that owing to ex
treme dry weather the grain crop
this year will not be more than
half the usual yield and in some
portions of Wasco county will have
entire failures, several large fields
near The Dalles are not considered
worth harvesting.
Active business of rebuilding in
Seattle shows the true pluck and
energy of the people under their
present most trying circumstances.
Night and day the hammer andj
saw are applied and already one
large brick block is half way up I
ere the around is hardly cold from
Tub result of the election of
directors of the O. R. & N. com
pany seems to have been a com
between the ulard
forces and the former management,
as a new man is to become presi
dent of the company.
