It is now only three days until
the appearance of Sells Bros. &
Barretts monster united shows in
this city. In the race for first
money among circuges Sells Bros,
will win hands down. They have
demonstrated the fact that the beet
attractions always are the most
proG table to the management, and
while the other would-be big shows
have been shrinking in size year
after vear, Sells Brothers' show
Iihs been expanding. It is not all

to jjxe(j principles. Nothing is too
expensive far bells Brothais and
"nothing is too good for the public"
has been their shibboleth. Of the
three recognized legitimate big
shows sow in existence in this
i country, hells Brothers show is
characterized by the virility of its
owners, while the others are
in
"the sere and yellow leaf." One
exist on tbe glory of a faded and
decaying name; another by the
force of fortuitous circumstances,
while Sells Brothers march onward,
meritorious, fair and square, up
right and honorable, always with
the best performance and rarest
! novelties. This year S. H.Barrett's
World s bair, contemplating a tour
of the Pacific Coast and Northwest
formed a coalition with Sells
Brothers and the two big"' shows
will travel togethei, exhibiting
day and date in the same towns,
making their parades at the same
hour, and what :s mors remarkable
they will both exhibit under the
same canvases for one price of
admission, and that too, just the
same as other and smaller shows
charge. These twi shows will
exhibit at Albanv, Wednesday

The Kntertainmrnt.
Iisi evening the Georgie Wood
thorpe Dramatic Company oresent
ed "The Golden Giant" t . the
largest aud.ence that ever assem
bled in the Albany opera house.
The interesting " and thrilling
drama was rendered in a style to
nf! captivate the entire audience,
ii ii- .i i
uoiuing me attention complete,
and at times causing the outburst
of loud an spontaneous applause.
Kvery part was well apportioned
and fully carried out. Miss
Georgie woodthorpe is a charming
actress, and as Bessie Fairfax fair
ly captivated the audience. H.
Bar.ymore, as Alexander Fairfax, !
the Golden Giant, plaved with a
strength and power that at once won
a hearty appreciation. Lou Wood,
as Jack Mason, his friend, exhibit
ed some clever acting, while R.
Brownson, as Duncan LeMoyna,
the villain, was al.' that could' be
asked. Miss R. Stover, as Ethel
Wayne, won a hearty applause in
the rendition of that part. Little
(Jeorgie Woodthoipe, as Jack
Mason Fairfax, exhibited remarka
ble talent , and is certainly a won
dri'ul child-actor. The company
is a strong one and does not con
tiiuua weak stember. To-night
will be presented "May Blossom."
There will doubtless be another
crowded heuse.

A Startling Badness Proposition.
When Mrs. Fowlor, of 327 Ellis street,
stopped in at a leading city druggist's to
ask what effect Joy's Vegctablo Sarsapa
rilla, would have la dyspepsia and sick
headaches, sho was assured it would re
lieve both. She was so incredulous that
the druggist gave her a bottle, not to be
paid for unless it cured. The following is
the convincing conclusion:
Sa Francisco, Feby. 8, 1888.
Dear Sib: Notwithstanding my mis
givings, Joy's Vegetable Sarsaparilla did
all that you promised. I had tried so
many prescriptions that I had como to
believe nothing would relieve my dyspep
sia and sick headaches, but I have not
had a return of cither since. You have
my permission to make this public, for a
remedy that will cure dyspepsia and pre
vent sick headaches should be generally
known. Respectfully,
