the claim he selected twelve yeans

under any circumstance, be can
didate for re-election. ''My expe
rience of the legislative hession,"
he says, "onlv confirms me in mr
determination never to lie involved
in politics again. My circum
stances are such that J can take
life easily. My ambition is satisfied
aud therefore is no inducement,
not a millionof dollars that could
ever tempt me to again submit to
the annoyance, cares and anxieties
of office. I do hope to leave be

upright administration, but it is
with no hope or desire to secure
another term of office for myself."
