A CORRECTION.
Last week we gave the vote upon
Jenninji'u Joint Memorial asking
congress to so amend (be constitu
tion as to ullrw the election of
United Btates senator by the direct
rote of the people. In some man
ner in the correction of proof the
names were mixed up and the yote
was incorrectly given ; we therefore
republish the names, in order that
no injustice be done :

treat the press with the same
severity at home and abroad. Here
is a Berlin e iitor sent to prison for
two months for language that he
used in referring to a fountain pre
sented to the Emperor, while in
Apia the editor of the Samoan
Times has had his paper suppressed.
If the Samoan editor is an English
man, as we have heard it stated,
he will be able to make a fine
claim for damages against Bis
marck. The paper has been fair
in its description of the events in
Samoa, although manifestly in
sympathy with Mataafa. Doubt
less the Germans suppressed it on
the plea that its editorials incited
the natives to revolt.
Owen Bnowx,8on of John Brown
whose "soul goes marching on" in
spite of the execution at Harper's
Ferry in 1859, die! recently at his
home . in Los Casitas, California,
and was buried upon the moun
tain farm upon which he was living
a 4 by his request before death.
The body of the brave father lies
at North Elba, New York, the
mother and sun at different points
in California, and a brother and
sister still survive.
The Oregonian thinks that the
appropriations for wagon roads,
that are beiug passed by the legis
lature should be expended under
the direction of the various county
courts in the counties where the
roads are located. The suggestion
is a good one, for at the rate that
the appr priations aie being made,
there is immense chances for big
jobs being put up by interested
parties.

It is stated on good authority

The modes of death' approach are
various, and statistics akow conclusive
ly that more persons die from diseases
of the throat and lungs toan any other.
It is probable that everyone, without
exception, receives yat rumbers of
Tubeicle Germa into the system and
where these germs fall upon suitable
soil they start . into life and develop,
at first slowly and is shown by a
slight tickling eensotion in the throat
and' if allowed -to . eootinue ..their
ravages they extend to the lunps pro
ducing consumption and to the head,
causing: catarrh. Now all this is
dangerous and if allowed to proceed
will in time cause death. At the onset
you must act with promptness; allow,
ing a cold to go without attention is
dangerous and may lose you your
life. As soon as you feel that some
thing is wrong with your throat, lungs
or nostrils, obtain a bottle of Boschee's
German Syrup. It will give jou im
mediate relief.
