territories, which have long been
knocking for admittance into the
Union are now rejoicing over the
prospects of being speedily granted
their rights and becoming a
portion of the United states equal
with other states.
The people of Dakota are hold
ing meetings and appointing com
mittees to endeavor to secure a
special session of the Fifty-Hrst
Congress at the earliest practicable
day after March 4th, in order to
pass an enabling act for that terri
; tory. The Governor of Dakota has
gone East to confer with General
Harrison about the admission of
the territor-.
Since it is conceded on all hands
that not only Dakota but Washing
ton and Montana are entit'ed to
