The chicken, egg and butter sup
ply of this state has fallen further
behind the demand this year than
eyer before, and now it seems as if
the supply of hogs is also to be
short, and more lard, bacon and
hams will have to be imported
than ever before. It is not that
the supply is less than usual, but
the increase in the supply has not
kept pace with the increased de
mand, owing to the increase of
population. It is hardly to be ex
pected that this state can raise
pork in such quantities as the
great corn-growing states, but there
should be no trouble in producing
enough for home consumption.
