John Coxser's excellent qualifi- j
cations for the office of sheriff are j
well known to business men of A1- j
bany, where he has done business j
for many years, lie is one of the ;
county's most careful and upright
financiers and prudent business
men. He is just the right man
for sheriff. Vote for him.
It would not be wise to select a j
i justice of the peace who resides in
the country. The people of West
Albany, if they do not want to
make a farce of the office, should
j elect Mr. Brink and keep the office
i in the city, where the bik of the
business always occurs.
THE RACE FOR RICHES.
The haste to become rich, the
greed to posses the chimera of
human endeavor, the ambition to
own as much of the dust of the
earth as it is possible to grasp, is
the ruling motive of mankind, and
sways human actions, public and
private, and points all ambitions.
To this attribute of humanity may
be ascribed the evils that beset the
race. As a recent writer says this
brings us to another evil wrought
on the public by the haste to be
rich. It evidently leads to crooked
dealing. In so excising a chase
an advantage is not to be missed
because of a little question of right
and wrong. A lie here, a cheat
there, these are the very-da v cc
currences by which to get around
the neighbor or the custom-house
or the stockholder. A bribe well
placed is a stroke of genius. Em
ployees are trained in deception
and the community is morally cor
rupted. Legislature.?, whom we
trust for our laws, become the paid
servants of the gold-hunters, and
justice is polluted in our courts.
The madness that possesses the
man who is chasing after wealth
"knows no bounds. His moral code
is completely set aside in the
-p!.ere of his money-making.
0. H. Irvine is a well read
young attorney of this city, and
the boys, v. tth whom he is justly
popular, are going to stand in with
him to- morrow for representative.

Attention is directed to the pre
cinct officers on the ticket at the

They are good men and should be
elected.

our modern money-hunters, that
even the perfectly innocent man of

great wealth implies great rascal
