Jus. Jordon, one of Coos Bay’s
oldest pioneers, died yesterday
morning in Empire, nt the home of
his daughter, Mrs, 0. Secstrom,
after quite a long illness.

Mr. .Jordan’s exact ago there has
been some question, but Mr. See-
strom, his son-in-law, states that he
was boru iu 1805, making his age
97, nt the time of his death.
He came to Coos Bay at an early
date, about 1853, nnd was a welt
figure in the old pioneering days.
He followed huntiug and trapping
mainly though at one time he run a
store for a short time in the build
ing erected by' John Porshbaker,
which was tho first store at what is
now called Marshfiold. This build
ing later became the Western hotel
and is now occupied by Gow W hy’s
