Spurgeon, yielded the battle of life.
Mrs. Clarissa Spurgeon, whose
muiden name was 1 jammy, was born
iu Hocking county, Ohio, January
29, 1828.
She moved to Grant
countv, Indiana, with her parents
when quite young.
Was married
to E. S. Spurgeon, who survives
her, in 1853. Mr. aud Mrs. Spur
geon then moved to Louisa couuty,
Iowa, the same year, to Washing
ton couuty in 1872, since which
time these respected nnd worthy
people have been residents here.
Mother Spurgeon was a motherly
ond chnritable person, loved by all
who knew her, and her taking off
has grieved many. The burial took
place Sunday afternoon at Masonic
cemetery and was largely attended.
