Are you frequently hoarse?
Do you have that annoying
tickling in your throat? Would
you feel relieved if you could
raise something? Does your
cough annoy you at night, and
do you raise more mucus in
the morning?
Then you should always keep
on hand a bottle of

Word reached us yesterday
bringing the shocking intelligence
tlmt our young friend— well know n
by many at this place and through
out this valley- —Gussie vou Pegert
was shot and instantly killed by
the accidental discharge of his gun
while hunting deer, on the 25th
ult., near Boisfort, Washington.
Wfc have not a detailed account of
the affair, but just the sad fact to
make knowo to our renders. Gus-
sie was born in this valley and
resident here until a few mouths
ago the mother and family— except
Fred, who married here and is liv
ing up at Laird’s--m oved to Wash
ington. Many relatives, including
the grandpnrents, Mr. and Mrs.
X. J. Perkins, living near Parkers
burg, are still residents here, and
with the numberless friends are
sincerity pained at this distressing
casualty.
M. O. Warner, piano tuner, made
bis periodical visit to this place
last week. He visited the lower
river also.
8. 8. Wheeler, temporarily living
on Frank Stillwell’s place, a few
miles below town and nenr the
Stiang place, was in tow n Saturday
and recited to us a serious loss by
tire last Friday eveuing.
Mr.
Wheeler and family were camping
in n barn while he was tilling a
contract of handling slnnglebolts
for Lyons’ shiuglemill at this
place.
He had about completed
the day’s work down at the laud
ing, but remained awhile to kill
some ducks. Mrs. Wheeler took
the children down to Mr. Norton’s
to await her husband’s coming,
while Frank Stillwell went up to
to the camp to build n fire for sup
per.
Hardly hud sufficient time
passed for the latter work till Mr.
and Mrs. Wheeler and the children
faced bomewnrd, being about 6:30
p. m. and growing dark, when they
discovered the blaze and the house
in flames.
They hurried to the
scene, but it burned so rapidly
that nothing could be saved.
Mr.
and Mrs. Wheeler lost everything
— furniture, trunks, clothing, sew
ing- mnehiue, childrens’ clothing,
everything but what they had on
their backs. Mis. Wheeler saves a
calico dress, Mr. Wheeler his over
alls, and the children the every
day suits they hnd on to face the
inclement season in.
The family
will stay at Wm. Norton’s till a new
cabin is put up.
This loss comes heavily on Mr.
Wheeler and family at this time.
He is a laboring man and now be
reft o f everything that *be family
needs for their comfort, and which
it will take some time to acquire
unless helped by neighbors and
friends.
