The Myrtle creek neighborhood,
tributary o f the Middle Fork, is
visited with the scourge o f diph­
theria, already oue having died,
one or two past hope o f recovery,
and several others down, including
Mr. and Mrs. John Fish, and re­
ported also of Mr. and Mrs. John
Appleton nnd family. It was one
o f John Fish's children that died.
The jail cage was moved to its
permanent qaarters in the new
courthouse last week, by Mr. Snook,
the contractor, put in place, and
the necessary plumbing and drain­
age provided. It has been tempo­
rarily enclosed, also, till the cement
and brick walls enclose it.
One
prisoner was transferred to the
town jail for a few days till this
necessary preliminary work was
arranged.
Our young Coquille friend, Sam
Johnson, lonnected with the Chi­
cago Marble nod Granite Works at
Portland, will be in Coos county
about the 27th inst. with a full
line of samples and designs of
marble and granite tomb stones,
monuments, tablets, bead and foot
stones, eta We are pleased to see
Sam working up; he is a good, re-
liable and industrious young nnn
and has many friends here who
have known him long and favorably.

o f orange blossoms, being the oc­
casion of tin marriage of their
daughter, Miss Aimie, and our
yonng upper-river frieud, Ethan A.
Wimer. There were present a few
relatives and friends of the family
to wituess the ceremony, which was
performed Rev. C. A. Stine. After
this, refreshments and a pleasant
social time.
