Obituary.
Fairv iew, Jnly 8. — Edward Neely
was born in Pike couuty, III., Nov.
23, 1834, and died at his borne near
j Fairview July 4, 1898.

and settled in Lane county, near
i Eugene. Later be moved to Jose
phine county and lived there and
Jin Douglas county until the fall of
1874, wheu he came to Coos county
and Ideated the home place where

Iu Sept. 1861 he was married to
Zilplia E Mays, who survives him
Five children were the result of
this union, of whom two, W illis
*Dd Lee, are now living, two hav
ing died in infancy aDd one, John
C. Neelv, about four years ngo.
In 1880 deceased united with the
Christian church, of which body
lie remained a member, faithful
uuto death. By his deatli is lost
a loving husband, a kind father
and a good neigh bor.
Though be had been sick for
about seven moDtbs, and for the
last two months his sufferings have
been intense, yet his faith in Christ
did not waver aud bis oftenest ex
pressed wish was, to die aud be at
rest.
On July 5 a large number of
sorrowing friends followed the
loved remains to the Burton Prairie
cemetery, where they were laid
away, to rest in peace until the
judgment day.
