Hus ton of thia city Imve brought ac.it in the circuit court of .Washington county ngainat Thomas H. Tongue, congreaemau-elect fot the F irst district, Jacksou Monroe ami James Im brie, clerks o f W ashing ton county. In the complaint filed Tougue is charged with hav ing conspired with Monroe aud Im brie to defraud tbe plnintiffs out of a one-lialf interest in a ju dg ment for $2800. The judgment stood in the name o f Jackson Mon roe, bnt the complaint allfges that Tongue was fully advised o f plain tiffs’ ownership ot a portion o f the same. I t is also alleged in tbe complaint that Tongue is the owner of n second mortgage on a piece o f land on which the jndgmeut was a prior lien. The most serious complication in the charge, however, is the allega tion that litigation over this ju dg ment was still pending, and in such litigation Snow nnd Hnstou represented Edith Monroe. Tbe claim is made that Tongue has beeu also guilty of unprofessional con duct. W . R. W eils, o f Olalla, writes to the Plnindenler: The qnartz dis covery made here by . Messrs. Bandever & Co., is attracting atten tion. Th ey put a shaft down 10 feet nnd at that depth the assay runs from $9.50 to $50 per ton. The ledge shows 16 feet in width, and the owners are so sure o f* the richness o f their mine that they are already negotiating for a m ill for the mine, and will doubtless have one in full blast within a few menthe. There has lately been a nnmher o f discoveries made near by that prospect well, one o f which is the Lamb. Th is seems to lie a mountain o f qnartz. The company who have located it, intend pntting in a tunnel soon to make a thorough test. Indications Lere now seem favorable for nn extensive mining boom for Olalla soon, Wedderbnrn Gazette: The corps of U. S. geological surveyors who will work in this district this sum mer have arrived in Coos and are at work. ’I hey will this season make a survey of the Sixes river mining belt, and make a tborongli investigation thereof, nnd no donht tneir report thereon will he fonnd of great interest. It is hoped to have the mineral belt in the eastern end o f this connty surveyed uext snmner. Tbe Veterans’ Association o f Marion and Linn counties will hold its third annnal reunion the first week o f August, beginning Mon day, Angnst 3, and lasting five days.
