“ Beautiful Bandon by the Sea” is
the seaport town, aud the only sea
port town, for tho entire Coquille
basiD. Every item o f production
of the Coquille valley will, sooner
or later, find its exit to the sea and
to market by way of Bandon. It is
therefore to the interest o f Bandon
to help build up every portion of
the Coquille valley.
If Bandon
lives aud grows she must do so at
the expense of the upper river.
This proposition is perfectly clear.
W hatever increases tho wealth nnd
business o f the Coquille country
adds to tho resources o f Bandon.
If the county seat located in this
valley will add to any extent to the
wealth nnd prosperity of any place
then every voter in Bandon owes it
to his town to vote for Coquille
City for the couuty seat.
Bandon
is our seaport, nnd as such we take
pride iu it; and yet there are a few
people in that town who appear to
be so blind to their own interests
nnd thnt o f the Coquille valley as
to talk in favor o f continuing the
county seat on the bay.
W e do
hope thnt such people will open
their eyes to the interests o f their
own town, and vote for the location
o f the county seat where it ought
to be, in tbe centre of the county, nt
Coquille City.

prison this morning.
Even on the scaffold he was
probably the coolest person in the
solemn assemblage. In a few w ell-
chosen word she proclaimed his in
nocence of any murder, including
that for which he was convicted ard
hanged.

Prof- J. S. Knnemalz, who is be

candidate for county surveyor, is a
native o f Japan. At the age of 18
years he graduated from the G er
man Hausekneohit University of
Tokio, Japan, with the degree of A.
M. He then came to the United
States, and graduated from tho
State Polytechnic Institute of Olym
pia, Washington, and took a first-
class diploma as a civil engineer.
Since receiving his last diploma
ho has been most of the time ac
tively engaged in engineering aud
surveying.
He has located several
lines o f railroads, drawn plans for
a number o f large steel bridges ns
well ns wooden structures. He has
done a considerable amount o f g ov
ernment engineering on this river
and local surveying in this county,
