for a stock of hardwnro that is on
the way up.
It is tho Pacific hotel now, instead
o f the TenBrook, if that is the ono
you are looking for.
Assessor Hansen is here doing up
the town. He seems to be giving
perfect satisfaction, as he always did.
Quite a goodly number o f candi
dates visited Bandon this w eek;
their stay is always short, from som e
cause best known to themselves.
Mrs. Stillwell was moved back to
Bandon this week from Bear creek,
whero she has been stopping for
several weeks with her daughter,
Mrs. Shannon. Her health is n ot
much improved.
Several of our townspeople have
left in the last few weeks for other
fields of labor.
Mrs. S. N. B. Hunt and Miss Lillie
Decker are some better this week.
Bandon has a brewery in running
order- now.
Tho steamer M oro is still in the
river waiting for a wheel from the
city.
Bandon city election M onday a
week, May 25th, for tho purpose of
electing a recorder, marshal and five
trustees.
The match social, given by the M.
E. church Inst Snturday night, was
a decided success.
Tho steamer Dispatch is under
g oin g a thorough overhauling, get
ting rendy for the summer run.
147/F THE It A N D O N P E O P L E
SHOULD EA VOIt CO Q U ILLE
CITY.
“ Beautiful Bandon by the Sea” is
the seaport town, aud the only sea
port town, for tho entire Coquille
basiD. Every item o f production
of the Coquille valley will, sooner
or later, find its exit to the sea and
to market by way of Bandon. It is
therefore to the interest o f Bandon
to help build up every portion of
the Coquille valley.
If Bandon
lives aud grows she must do so at
the expense of the upper river.
This proposition is perfectly clear.
W hatever increases tho wealth nnd
business o f the Coquille country
adds to tho resources o f Bandon.
If the county seat located in this
valley will add to any extent to the
wealth nnd prosperity of any place
then every voter in Bandon owes it
to his town to vote for Coquille
City for the couuty seat.
Bandon
is our seaport, nnd as such we take
pride iu it; and yet there are a few
people in that town who appear to
be so blind to their own interests
nnd thnt o f the Coquille valley as
to talk in favor o f continuing the
county seat on the bay.
W e do
hope thnt such people will open
their eyes to the interests o f their
own town, and vote for the location
o f the county seat where it ought
to be, in tbe centre of the county, nt
Coquille City.

that for which he was convicted ard
