Snow is almost goue. and the
hole worn so much by mail pouch
es that it has collapsed, and happy
are the mail carriers that they es
caped the fall thereof. Mr. Editor,
you say explain why the mail car
riers, being on tim e,d id not bring
the paper mail. They did have
mail—letters and papers * to your
heart’s content, and sure and did
yon not see them? two large pnper
sacks marked Coquille City. May
be your Fairview carrier, as he has
done heretofore, left one or both at
Fairview. Let the mail rest gent
ly as 1 think everybody has news
enough now since the back mail
Las all been forwarded to its desti
nation.
Anza.
W hy try to evade, Anza; there
were many times when the letter
mail came and the pajjers were left
behind. At the time refered to,
we got the two sacks o f paper mail,
but what does it amount to in sev
eral weeks’ accumulation. What
we wanted to know was how it wus
impossible to bring paper
mail
when the carriers got through with
the latter mail. What we meant
by our mail, was all of it; not a few-
old, dead papers that had come
weeks before. These we could
have^gotten along without, and as
they were kept till they were dead,
it w’ould have been the proper ca
per to have used them to bridge
mud-holes with. W hen it comes
to that point that it takes one
mouth to get mail from Roseburg
to Coquille City-, we had letter
have the mail sent some other way
through the winter season. The
stages on this route make the trip
in summer in 12 hours, and we
have received mail this winter that
has been as long as 36, 37, and 38
days over the same road. W ho is to
blame? W e should like to know if
it is pertinent for Coquillers to ex
pect mail at all.
