W e just learn that Mr. Pearson’s
family, who live ou the North fork
o f the Coquille, are sadly attlicted
with some kind o f fever, four of
them being bedfast at this date.
Mrs. Capt. Dunham, of Marsh
field, is visiting friends at this
place.
The thresher is now running on
full time, and the quality of grain
threshed so far is good, especially
that of wheat and barley. Oats are
light, the grain being small.
On Sunday, August 35, Rever
ends Pullin and Bashor, former!)
members of the German Baptists
or Tanker churh at this place, met
by appointment at Dixon’s hall
and organized a “ Progressive
Brethrens’ ” church. Some three or
four years ago a general separation
took place in the German Baptist
church and at this date the Pro
gressives in the United States

house and high school at Dayton,
Ohio, one weekly and one nu/ithly

country since I left Coquille, but
have found nothing as good as that
part. My opinion is now that all
who are there had better stay there.
They can do as well with or with
out a ranch as in any part w here
I*have been, and, in fact, I think
better, and save the cost of moving
here and back again, lthink of your
