creek, this time, as we trust, to be kept run
ning right along without any more such pro
traded interruptions. Mr. Bowden has men
at work on two different leads, both situated
on Timber gulch. The upper lead is not cod .
eidered quite ao rich as the lower odo , yet
one or two hundred tens of tolerable good pay
ing quartz will be crushed from it before com
niencing on the one that is considered ac
tually the best. That there is an immense
fortune in the lower ledge is the geueral
opinion of all the hands who havo been en
gaged taking out quartz from the same. Big
wages are mad« with a mortar whenever the
boys have occasion to pound out a little for
expense money. The only draw back now,
is the scarcity of water lor the Mill.

Fever and Ague, allow me to state that 1 was af
flicted with the Chills an i Fever which afterward
turned into the Dumb Ague.
I had tried all the
most celebrated physicians «f this city for four
months, but grew worse until I was scarcely able
to walk, with loss ef appetite, night sweats, etc
In fact, I began to beliove my ca.e hopele.-s, when
finally a friend induced me to try your Ague King.
I had no eonfieence in it. supposing it to be like
other medicines the bn«« being quinine. I u.-ed
but two bottlos of it and in ten days 1 was a sound
man. Three months has passed since I used your
remedy, and I never felt bette. or str n;cr in my
life. After paying five hundred dollars and lying
idle four mouths, I am cured. L consider t: o Ague
King a dead shot for fever or fever and ague.

B ack A gain .—The genial countenance of
oar familiar triend, Johuny Orth, is onoe
more observable on the streets. IIo has just
returned from the Fatherland, where the nr
tuios that are now doing such terrible fight
ing were raised. We don’t know whether
Johnny took Bismarck into his confidence
and directed him how to operate successfully
against Napoleon or not; anyhow his mind
was so much preoccupied that his trunk and
£ortiona of his wardrobe were forgotten.
ie had a gala time of it, however, while in
the “old country,” and is decidelly well
pleased with his trip. Welcome home.
S ickness .—Dr. Davis returned from quite
a protracted professional visit down in Jose
phine county during the week. The typhoid
fever, in a very malignant form, is said to be
raging down that way. AlLof Mr. McDan
iels family were down, and two out of ten
died. Ex-Sherifl, Wm. Chapman lost a
daughter by the same disease, and three of M.
Fotin tains’ family were in a very 'low and
dangerous condition, though it is thought they
will now recover.
