M illers ’ C ombination .—We »re informed
the millers throughout the valley have enter
ed into Some kind of arrangement by which
they refuse to grind wheat for the farmers
more than they actually need for their own
consumption. This is ’he old trick over
again, and it is destined to operate detrime >
tally upon those who are the main stay and
support of the country. Il these combi' a
tiuus tended to the benefitting ot the farmers,
even in a remote degree, by insuring them a
reasonable price for their grain, no one could
very well object ; but such is manifestly not
the case. Toev are teudered only 74 cts
for their wheat and made to buy fl mr at rates
established when grain was much higher.
Circumstances are such with a great many of
the tillers uf the soil that they are camelled
to raise money co pay off past indeb edness,
and their produce is the only thing they have
to operate with. By c uverting their wheat
into fl >ur, many convenient interchange«
could be effected without the need of money ;
but this puerile attempt to fasten a iiiouopo<y
bn the community will work annoyance fur
awhile, uud finally explode.
