GENERAL MERCHANDISE,
H
S omewhat M ysterious .—In November,
last, we noticed the disappearance of a boy
from the ranch of Mr. T. Jackson, on Rogue
river, to whom the missing boy had been
bound as an apprentice. The boy, after be
ing missed, was traced to the river, and was
supplied to have been drowned in attempt
ing to cru«*. We learn now, Chat th« dogs
belonging to the ranch of lion. J. N. T.
Miller, which is «a the opposite side ot the
river to Jackson, were found, about two weeks
age, with the leg aud thigh bones, attached,
of a boy corresponding in size with those of
the missing boy. About the same time the
men on Mr.*Millers rand» noticed an offensive
smell on the bank of the river, and that uu>.
.onerous carrion birds bad collected about the
place. The men notified Mr. Jackson of the
matter, and told him he had better come over
and burry the bones ; he said he would, but
up to latest accounts had failed to do so.
There seems to be but little doubt that these
are the remains of the lost boy. 11
