Among other proceedings the following were bad,
to-wit : Geo. Nurse, Ferry license across Klamath
river, renewed for one year.-------- R oads . David
Venegar, G. V. Ingram and D. H. Burroughs ap­
pointed viewers on a road from Rock Point to
Josephine county lino, on South side of Rogue
river. The same viewers were appointed on road
from Rogue river up Foote's creek. Merrit Bell-
iuger, Dan’l Doty and A. M. Berry, appointed
viewers on road from Bellinger’s place to Justus’
lane on Bear creek. The same viewers were ap
pointed on road from John SwinUen’s to F. V.
Vandyke’s, along Bear creek. Win. Sutherland,
Baldwin Sills. Jr., and Win. Kincaid, appointed
viewers on road from near Martin Peterson,s to
Big Butte sawmill, via Rees creek, with S. J.
Howard as surveyor on said roads.-------- F. He­
ber’s resignation as supervisor of Road Dist. No.
4, accepted, and Dan’l Doty appointed in his stead.
-------- John Holten, discharged on his owu peti­
tion, as guardian of David C. Hart, minor, and a
half-breed Indian.-------- The petition of A. J. Bur­
nett, et al., for location of county road from Link
river to Indian Agency, continued till next term
of this Court.-------- The petition of A. Darueille,
et al., for county road down Applegate, on south
side, to Josephine county line, and also for road
up Thompson’s creek, continued till next te m of
this Cvurt.------- The petition of A. G. Rockyfeliuw,

T be P icnics .—On Saturday last, the M. E.
Sunday School held their pienio at Bybee’s Grove ;
and were favored with a fine day, a large turnout
a happy time, generally. The picnic

given on Sunday, May 1st, attracted a large crowd

of pleasure seekers; and ‘ everybody enjoyed them
selves until 3 o’clock, w‘ hen the programme was
interrupted by a thunder shower, and all adjourn-
ed home.
R ed M eh ' s B all .—The Improved Order of
Red Men at this place, Oregonian-Pocahontas
Tribe No, 1, advertise to-day, a ball to je given at
Horne’s Hall on Thursday, 12th inst., in honor of
their patron, St. Tammany. The best music has
been engaged, and everything is being gotten ep on
a grand scale, and they are determined to make the
ball a brilliant success. The public, generally, are
cordially invited to attend.
T he P ixlby S isters .—This troupe of so-called
theatricals, performed at Horne’s Hall, Tuesday
and Wednesday evenings. Their houses were only
so-so, and their performance, ditto. Our advice,
gratuitously given, is, stay at home, read Josh
Billings Almanac, hum “shoo fly” and save your
dollar.
G rand L odge R epresentatives .—The follow­
ing gentlemen have been elected from Jacksonville
No. 10, I. O. 0. F., to attend the next

Street Commissioner’s road matter was taken up.
The Street Commissioner being present umended
his report as ordered, and the same was accepted,
and the account closed, leaving us a re.-ult $72keur-
reney due from Street Commissioner on road ac­
count. B ills A llowed .—A. M. Asbury’s bill (an
(Ad bill), $8, for wood furnished Mrs. Roundtree nt
the order of Town Marshal ; Geo. Seaman’s bill,
$3 ; II. Pape’s bill, $30, was referred back, and
bill ordered to be made in due. form. B ills P re ­
sented —R. S. Duulap’s, Sexton, bill $51—for
fence lumber and for Cemetery—referred. A pe­
tition was presented, numerously signed, by M. A.
Brentano, Conly, and ether citixens, praying
the Board to pass an ordinance to prohibit animals
running at large in the night time with bells on.
The same was read and referred to a special com­
mittee, Neil and Fisher, with instructions to re­
port a bill. Repairs and alterations of Town Hall,
enlarging the room, tearing down the chimney and
other improvements, was suggested, and Neil, Wil­
son and higher were made a special committee to
examine and repor1 upon the same. Mr. Wilson
suggested the propriety of the town adopting some
badge to be worn by the Town Marshal, aud Mr.
Wilson and Neil were appointed a committee on
the same. Board adjourned without day.
