Richard Pearson Hobson’is riding
-liis hobby along a toilsome way.
So strong is his conception of the
evangel to which he is committed,
that he finds trouble in fitting into
places of political consequence
which the average Democrat fills
without bother to himself or annoy-
juice to anyone else.
Mr. Hob

We would further recommend
that legislation bv enacted per
mitting our county courts to |<e
* ribe and regulate the use or rather
the abuse of our county roads in
the rainy seasons, by special inter
ests, requiring them to keep said
roads in a passable condition, or
contribute to the funds of the
county by special license or tax suf
ficient sum to make the repairs
necessitated by*such abuse.
Changing the present system of
appointment of road supervisors
back to the elective system, we think
would be a backward step, and as
we believe it would be well to do
away entirely with our present sys
tem of district road supervision, we
would recommend that no further
action be taken upon such resolu
tion at this time.
We would further recommend
that we do not lose sight of the lay
ing of iron or steel rails upon our
county roads in the manner and for
the purpose outlined by our
Worthy Lecturer in her report last
year.
• In conclusion we would recom
mend that the state and subordinate
granges unite with the Good Roads
association of Oregon in its efforts
for the making of good roads in
Oregon.
