Tests by the University of

The department of Engineering o
the University of Oregon has begun
a series of exhaustive tests on the
strength and impermeability of

for the construction of dams and
reservoirs.

To deter

some three or four hundred tests
will be made, extending through the
year, with varying definite amouuts
of elec trop«. lytic agents added.
E u h sample will be submitted to a
w Her pressure test of from forty to
one hundred pounds to the square
inch in addition to the regular com
pression tests.
The department of
Chemistry is co-operating, and the
most thorough work possible will be
done.
C.|A. McClain and J. W.
McArthur, of the department of
Engineering, will have charge of
the tests.
Since the University has at pres
ent no money available for the
cat rying on of such work, the ex
penses will be borne by the men in
charge.
