conference of the M. E. church met
here last night, ofiening with a big
reception at < .race church.
There
was an address of welcome by I >r.
Brougher. resjionse by Bishop David
Moore and the presiding elders.
The conference will extend all
through the week, and conclude its
sessions next Monday evening.
This will lie the first time on the
coast that the resident bishop pre
sides at home conference.
The semi annual meeting of bish
ops will be held in Novemlier al
S|M>kane.
In the same month wil
be hel<l the Foreign Missionary So
ciety al Seattle, and the Home Mis
sionary Society at Portland.
