J. J. Bryan has quit the road as a
commercial traveler, and has pur­
chased a grocery store at Springfield,
Oregon.
Miss Msrv Blackerby left last Sat­
urday, for North Bend, to take charge
of her department in the Woolen
Mill there.
Jack Sullivan, the shoe drummer,
was doing business in Band n, last
week, and faced the storm for a visit
to Dairyvilld.
A. S, York, agent for the Portland
Telegram, was in town the latter part
of last week, soliciting subscribers
for that journal.
Steve and Fred Minard, of Dora,
aud I M. Weakly, of Gravel Ford,
were visitors in Bandon during the
latter part of last week.
Fred Helgreti, of Prosper, was do­
ing business in town. Friday. Fred
is at work this winter doing some nec-
eseary diking on bis place.

Urbau Fisher and family left last
Friday for Santa Rosa, Calif., to re

that Mr. Fisher and W. A. Dickson
purchased a farm of 70 acres wilbiu
two and a half miles of that place
when they visited California.

The greatest amount of lumber that
ever passed over tbeJCoqnille bar in
one day, passed out last Friday, when
the three three-masters and the two
steamers cleared for San Francisco,
with nearly a million and a half feet
of lumber aboard. The schooners
Ruby, Onward and Coquelleare ready
to pass out when the bar smooths
down again, and they will take out
about auother million feet. Tbia
mouth will probably witness the larg­
est output of lumlier from the Co­
quille within tbe history of the river.
The Coqnelle got out yesterday.

Indiana Commissioners estimate
that one third of the State's popula­
tion will attend »he World's Fair.
Indiana's World's Fair Commis­
sioners believe that every third resi­
dent, of that State will atteud the
World's Fair. This belief is based
on reports that have reached them,
and which they consider authentic.
The proprietor of one of th* large
hotels now being bnilt, in St. Louis,
informs the Commissioners that 5,00(1
Hoosiers had already engaged room*
in his hostlery for various periods
during the Exposition.
Two Indiana High Schools have
already completed arrangements to
rnn excursions to th* World's Fair,
and others will doubtless follow. Be
cause of these excursions, it is said
that at one of the Exposition hotels,
rooms have been booked for 700 per­
sons, and 459 at another On<* of the
fraternal organization* from Indiana
has engaged accommodations for 250
members. Tbe Commissioners say
they believe Indiana will be more nn-
meronslv represented at the World's
Fairthan any of the common wealths,
with tbe exception of Missouri.
