Book talk
Chinuk wawa program opportunities
Those who are interested in enrolling their children in the Tribe’s Chi-
nuk Wawa Educational Program have three opportunities to attend an
informational session.
The dates are noon on Wednesday, May 8 or 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May
9 at the chinuk wawa skul on the Tribal campus. The other option is via
Zoom at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 15.
Attending one of these sessions is mandatory if your child is not cur-
rently enrolled in the program. New applications will not be considered if
the parent/guardian has not attended one of the informational sessions.
There will be no make-up options.

his artwork after her book talk that was held at the Tribal gym on
Monday, April 22. Fogel read and answered questions about her book
“Coyote & Meadowlark Make Willamette Falls.” The book is a project
that she wrote and illustrated as a 2023 Indigenous Place Keeping Artist
Fellowship recipient. The talk was sponsored by the Tribal Library.
Name: Joshua Gonzalez
Employer: Cutter Construction
Position: Dump truck driver
Joshua Gonzalez first signed up for the
TERO Skills Bank in July 2023. Soon after,
he was referred out as a journeyman laborer
on one of TERO’s heavy highway construction
projects.
During a brief layoff, Joshua obtained
his Class A Commercial Driver’s License

through the TERO training assistance pro-
gram and immediately started a new career as a dump truck driver
for Eugene William Construction. Joshua then advanced to driving
tanker trucks.
Since Joshua joined the TERO team he said he has learned so
much in the construction and truck driving industry and is learn-
ing more every day.
Joshua added that the Tribe’s TERO program stands behind its
native workers 100%. Joshua also said TERO provides an oppor-
tunity to succeed and gain the training and knowledge needed to
journey into a great career.
Joshua gives kudos to Duke Kimsey, Jacob Boekhoff and the rest
of the TERO staff for the training and guidance to start his new
career

and for his dedication to his employers. Way to go, Josh!
