Letter s
Correction
Due to a transcription error, a sentence in Susie Shaw’s Letter to the
Editor in the July 15 Smoke Signals read incorrectly. The correct wording
was: “You do not make money off of the food, but rather off the playing
floor and what keeps folks there is being able to eat a fabulous meal and
stay at the lodge. Without the big buffet and all its varied foods in one
place, not a food court, people will now start coming again now that the
COVID-19 is being lifted. This is the worst time to shut down the buffet!”
Smoke Signals regrets the error.

Tribal government
returns to mask wearing
Tribal governmental employees returned to wearing masks while work-
ing indoors and in the company of other employees on Wednesday, July 28.
General Manager David Fullerton said re-adopting the mask-wearing
mandate was in response to increasing COVID-19 cases in Oregon caused
by the delta variant and those who are still unvaccinated.
Fullerton said the Tribe would continue to err on the side of safety and
encouraged employees to continue to practice safe social distancing and
sanitation.
Tribal Council members returned to wearing masks at their Wednesday,
July 28, meeting.
The Tribe’s decision coincided with the Oregon Health Authority rec-
ommending universal mask use in public indoor settings throughout the
state to stem the spread of the delta variant.
COVID-19 cases in Oregon increased to more than a 1,000 in one day
on Tuesday, July 27, numbers not seen since earlier in the year before the
three vaccines became widely available. 
Tribal Office Closures
Tribal offices will be closing noon Friday, Sept. 3, and closed on
Monday, Sept. 6, in observance of Labor Day.
