Track success
On May 9, Brooklynn Bailey represented the Willamina Middle School
track team in the district meet held in Yamhill-Carlton. Brooklynn compet-
ed in four events and placed in three of them:
1st place: Long jump
2nd place: High jump
3rd place: Shot put
Congratulations on this accomplishment, Brooklynn! The future looks
bright for you, kiddo. Keep up the hard work!

Tribal member Ty George feeds pieces of a peach to one of the water
fowl before the return of fish remains to the Willamette River during
the Fish Ceremony celebrated at Willamette Park in West Linn on
Saturday, May 18. The Tribe celebrated fishing off the platform at
Willamette Falls and those who made it possible.
District offering free summer meals
Willamina School District will provide free meals to children during
the summer as it has for the last 22 years.
Each year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture partners with local
organizations to provide free meals to children when school is out
for the summer. Anyone aged 1 to 18 can eat for free with no income
requirements or registration required.
The schedule will be:
• 11 to 11:45 a.m. Monday through Thursday at Willamina Elemen-
tary School between June 17 and July 25;
• Noon to 12:30 p.m. at Tina Miller Park from June 17 to Aug. 9;
• 1 to 1:30 p.m. at Raven Loop Park in Grand Ronde between June
17 to Aug. 9;
• And 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Willamina High School on June
24-25.
There will be no meals served on Thursday and Friday, July 4-5.
