Veterans Royalty
Veterans Royalty work with the Veterans Special Event Board (Veterans
SEB). They attend powwows, parades, fundraisers, meetings and other events
with the Veterans SEB and the Honor Guard. They interact with and repre-
sent all veterans. They also work with the Grand Ronde Royalty during events
and activities such as Restoration, parades and fundraisers. The Veterans
Royalty should know what a veteran is and the different military branches.
When Veterans Royalty attend events, they are expected to stay for the
duration of the event. This includes helping to set up events, meetings and
parades and dancing during Grand Entry, InterTribals and staying until
the flags are retired. Veterans Royalty should have their own regalia and be
willing and able to dance.
GRAND RONDE VETERANS ROYALTY
Participating in Veterans Royalty is an excellent opportunity for Tribal
youth to learn our traditions , powwow protocol and work with veterans.
Participants represent the veterans and the Tribe by attending powwows
and various community events.
We encourage all Tribal youth to join.
Warriors — 8-18 years of age
Junior Veterans Queen — 11-13 years of age
Senior Veterans Queen — 14-18 years of age
General Requirements:
1. Enrolled Grand Ronde Tribal member
2. Must be alcohol and drug free
3. Never married, no children
4. Attend school regularly and be in good standing
5. Sign and comply with Veteran Royalty

Grand Ronde Transit Plan
Adoption Meeting Notice
The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde received an ODOT Special
Transportation Fund Discretionary (STFD) grant to prepare a new
Transit Development Plan & Coordinated Transportation Plan and
did so working through a Project Advisory Committee (PAC) that
included ODOT, area transit, and Tribal health, housing, and Spirit
Mountain representatives and with Kittelson & Associates. This in-
cluded need surveys and two advertised public meetings on transit.
The Tribe’s STF Advisory Committee participated in this project and
has reviewed the plan and is recommending its adoption.
It is expected that the Tribal Council of the Confederated Tribes of
Grand Ronde will vote on adopting the Tribe’s Transit Development
Plan & Coordinated Transportation Plan at their Council meeting 5
p.m. April 17, 2019, at the Governance Center, 9615 Grand Ronde
Road, Grand Ronde, OR 97347. The public is invited to attend.

Availability of ODOT STIF
Transit Grant Funds
The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde is providing notice that
the Tribe is reviewing options for their application (or STIF Plan)
for ODOT Statewide Transportation Improvement Funds (STIF)
which is due 5/1/19. The Tribe is eligible for $100,000 a year from
this fund for use with public transit. On Wednesday, April 10, the
Tribe’s STIF Advisory Committee will meet to review the options
and make their recommendation to Tribal Council. The meeting will
be 12:15 p.m. at the Elders Activity Center, 48940 Blacktail Drive,
Grand Ronde, OR 97347 (which is west off Grand Ronde Road). The
public is invited to attend. Among the options under consideration
are creating a new public transit route between Grand Ronde and the
City of Dallas and creating local collector/circulator service within
the immediate Grand Ronde area.
It is expected that the Tribal Council of the Confederated Tribes
of Grand Ronde will vote on adopting the Tribe’s STIF Plan on the
uses of these funds at their Council meeting 5 p.m. April 17, 2019,
at the Governance Center, 9615 Grand Ronde Road, Grand Ronde,
OR 97347.

Northwest Native Ventures
offers business assistance
New business incubator Northwest Native Ventures is providing free
training and technical assistance to American Indian, Alaska Native and
Native Hawaiian entrepreneurs in Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
Northwest Native Ventures offers help with SBA 8(a) and other feder-
al contracting certifications, federal contracting best practices and data
management to meet federal contracting reporting requirements.
The organization offers webinars, podcasts and online resources on its
website at nwnativeventures.org. It also provid limited individual busi-
ness coaching.
In addition, Native-owned businesses in Washington, Oregon and Ida-
ho can apply to be one of 15 participants in Northwest Native Venture’s
upcoming three-day business boot camp in Spokane, Wash.
Northwest Native Ventures is funded by a $300,000 grant from the U.S.
Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency to
Kauffman & Associates Inc., a Native woman-owned business.
