Oregon Battle of the Books 2018-19: Titles now available
at the Tribal Library. The following book review is a title
from the elementary-level Oregon Battle titles.
Book review: “Nightbird by Alice Hoffman. Inside this
book, you’ll be transported into a world of magical creatures,
curses and witches. Teresa “Twig” Fowler lives in a charm-
ing small town called Sidwell. Rumors are swirling all over
town of a monster hiding in the woods near her family’s
famous apple orchard. Hundreds of years ago, Twig’s family
was cursed by a witch. Since then her family has had to live
a secretive, anti-social and lonely life. When a new family
moves in next door with a connection to the witch who cursed
her family, Twig has a hard time staying away, leading to
a forbidden friendship and a mission to vanquish her fami-
ly’s ancient curse. “Nightbird” is full of love, friendship and
magical creatures that are sure to keep readers young and
old spellbound.

A curious eagle was spotted near the apartment complex on Wind River
Drive on Friday , Nov. 9. Residents said the bird spent a couple of hours
near the apartments.
