Former Grand Ronde resident SuSun Fish- er has been named female co-president of the United National Indian Tribal Youth’s National Unity Conference Executive Committee. Fisher, 19, is a member of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, but is originally from Grand Ronde. She previously served as the 2016- 17 Northwest representative of the Executive Committee. Fisher is attending the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque where she is studying to obtain a bachelor’s degree in political science. Fisher served as female co-president of the SuSun Fisher Siletz Youth Council and her work with UNITY started when she was 14 when she was named a “25 Under 25” award recipient. In 2014, she was a White House Tribal Youth Ambassador and in 2015 was named a UNITY Earth Ambassador. Fisher is a descendant of the Tom/Norwest/Riggs families.
