‘Flute Medicine’ reaping
awards, nominations

has started receiving
numerous awards and
nominations.
The CD received two
Silver Medal Awards for
Outstanding Achieve-
ment from the Global
Music Awards in the
Album and Instrumen-
talist categories. According to its Facebook page, the Global Music Awards
is a top music competition that honors talented musicians around the world
and receiving an award puts a “stamp of credibility for gifted, emerging
musicians.”
Meanwhile, the release was nominated for Best Native American Al-
bum by the One World Music Radio Awards, which will be announced on
Sunday, June 3. “Flute Medicine” joined “Harmony” by Jay Michael, “En-
chantment Blooms” by Nouveau Papillion, “Medicine Wheel” by Painted
Raven, “Fuego” by Rushingwind and the Native Groove and “Shaman” by
Wychazel in the category.
One World Music is the No. 1 radio station in Europe that concentrates
on broadcasting world music and “Flute Medicine” debuted at No. 5 on
the station’s Top 100 chart in December.
And the Canadian Indigenous Music Awards nominated “Flute Medi-
cine” as the Best Instrumental Album along with “The Flute Player & the
Singer” by Chamakese & Gladue, “Reckoning” by Melody McKiver, “Miigis”
by Red Sky Performance and “Rushingwind” by Steven Rushingwind. The
awards will be given out at the Manito Ahbee Music Festival being held
May 16-20 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
“Flute Medicine,” recorded in 432 hertz, was the topic of a Smoke Signals
