Female subject was arrested on a valid Yamhill County de-
tention warrant and transported to the Yamhill County Jail in
McMinnville.
• Assist outside agency in the 25000 block of Yamhill River
Road. Male subject was arrested on a valid warrant, unlawful
possession of methamphetamine and transported to the Polk
County Jail in Dallas.
• Assist outside agency in the area of the Center Street Market
in Willamina. Male subject was arrested on a valid warrant for
attempt to elude – misdemeanor, driving while suspended –
felony, escape in the third degree and interfering with a police
officer. Male subject was transported to the Polk County Jail in
Dallas.

Dallas.

• Hit-and-run property damage reported in the 27100 block of
Salmon River Highway.
• Suspicious activity reported in the 8500 block of Grand Ronde

Saturday, March 3
• Parking complaint received in the 100 block of Wind River
Drive.
• Welfare check performed in the 27100 block of Salmon River
Highway.
• Driving complaint reported in the area of milepost 4 on Salmon
River Highway.
• Assist outside agency with a physical altercation between two
motorists in the area of milepost 17 on Salmon River Highway.
• Motorist assist in the area of milepost 23 on Salmon River
Highway.
• Trespass complaint received in the area of milepost 21 on
Salmon River Highway.
• Assist outside agency in the 25000 block of Yamhill River
Road.
• Traffic stop in the area of milepost 22 on Salmon River High-
way. Male subject was issued a citation to appear on the crime
of failure to surrender a suspended driver’s license.

Three male subjects were arrested on valid warrants, unlawful
possession of methamphetamine and transported to the Polk
County Jail in Dallas.
Sunday, March 4

Road. Male subject was arrested on a valid warrant, unlawful
possession of heroin and transported to the Polk County Jail in
Dallas.
• Assist outside agency in locating a male subject involved in
a menacing case in the area of milepost 4 on Salmon River
Highway.

on River Highway.

Grand Ronde Tribal Elder
Marvin Loren Kimsey Sr., 83,
a resident of Grand Ronde
walked on at his home on Sun-
day, March 4, 2018.
He was born on Feb. 27,
1935, in Hehe, Ore., the son of
Loren Leo and Nora Warren
Kimsey. He lived most of his
life in Grand Ronde, spending
summers in the Warm Springs
area while growing up.
He enjoyed being a part of the Wild Horse roundups in central
Oregon.
He married Eleanor Lynn Kimsey and they had five children:
Karen, Virginia, Christie, Duke and Colleen.
He drove log truck for almost all of the logging outfits in the valley.
He retired in 1995.
He later married Michaelle Diana Lee and she preceded him in
death.
Marvin was instrumental in the Restoration of the Confederated
Tribes of Grand Ronde. He was a giver of life, enjoying commercial
fishing, race car driving and raising horses. He was instrumental in
establishing the Food Bank in Grand Ronde, served as the chairman
of the Spirit Mountain Stampede Rodeo and loved his many dogs.
He is survived by his children, Karen Kimsey, Virginia Kim-
sey-Roof, Christie Kimsey-Loomis, Duke Kimsey and Colleen Kim-
sey, along with 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are two sisters, Margaret
Provost and Myrna Brandon. He was preceded in death by his first
grandchild, Levi Baker, in 1995.
A memorial service was held Sunday, March 11, in the Grand
Ronde Tribal gym. Private interment occurred in the Grand Ronde
Tribal Cemetery.

Police Department starts
non-emergency text line
The Grand Ronde Tribal Police Department has created a non-emergen-
cy text line, Tribal Police Chief Jake McKnight announced on Monday,
March 12.
“We learned in our last school meeting that kids would like a different
way to communicate with the police if they have a non-emergency situa-
tion,” McKnight said. “We all know kids love to text so my officers and I
decided this would be a great tool to utilize.”
The new text number is 541-921-2927.
“Even though this is mostly designed for children, I don’t want adults
thinking that they can’t use it as well. If you have a non-emergency situ-
ation or question, feel free to contact my officer via text through this line.
When one of my officers receives the text, they will call you back when
they have time.”
McKnight said that emergency situations still require people to call 911.
