Rose has passed. At this time we would like
to re-enter the circle and share our thoughts
and love with all of you. Saturday, March 10, at
Willamette University we will have a giveaway
and honor dance honoring Rose. There will be a

‘Honoring Our Rivers’
seeking submissions
“Honoring Our Rivers,” a project of the Portland-based conservation
nonprofit Willamette Partnership, is accepting student submissions of
art, photography, poetry and writing, including works in foreign lan-
guages, for the upcoming edition of its publication.
Entries should reflect the student’s connection to rivers or their wa-
tershed.
The submissions are open to students in kindergarten through college.
The anthology will be distributed across the state of Oregon to libraries,
partner organizations and participating schools.
The upcoming edition also will include a featured section dedicated
to celebrating the different Tribes in the Pacific Northwest and their
connections to rivers. The intention is to increase awareness and ap-
preciation of Native culture, history, language and arts, particularly as
they relate to Pacific Northwest rivers and watersheds, through student
art and creative writing.
Deadline to submit items is Earth Day – Sunday, April 22.

SMALL CLAIMS ORDINANCE
OPEN FOR COMMENT
The Tribal Council is considering amendments to the Small
Claims Ordinance. The proposed amendments were given a First
Reading at the January 24, 2018, Tribal Council meeting.
The proposed amendments make significant revisions to the Or-
dinance to update and clarify Ordinance provisions. The Ordinance
was adopted in 1993, has not been amended and is very out-of-date.
The proposed amendments may also include minor technical (i.e.,
formatting, typographical, housekeeping) modifications.
Tribal Council invites comment on the proposed amendments to
the Small Claims Ordinance. For a copy of the proposed amend-

NAME CHANGE AND BIRTH
CERTIFICATION ORDINANCE
OPEN FOR COMMENT
The Tribal Council is considering amendments to the Name Change
and Birth Certification Ordinance. The proposed amendments were
given a First Reading at the January 24, 2018, Tribal Council meet-
ing.
The proposed amendments made several changes to the Ordi-
nance including but not limited to removing all provisions related
to Birth Certification, renaming the Ordinance to the Name Change
Ordinance, and updating and clarifying name change provisions.
The proposed amendments may also include minor technical (i.e.,
formatting, typographical, housekeeping) modifications.
Tribal Council invites comment on the proposed amendments to the
Name Change and Birth Certification Ordinance. For a copy of the

TOBACCO ORDINANCE
OPEN FOR COMMENT
The Tribal Council is considering amendments to the Tobacco
Ordinance. The proposed amendments were given a First Reading
at the January 24, 2018, Tribal Council meeting.
The proposed amendments establish that it is a violation to sell or
distribute tobacco to anyone under the age of 21 on the Reservation.
The proposed amendments may also include minor technical (i.e.,
formatting, typographical, housekeeping) modifications.
Tribal Council invites comment on the proposed amendments to
the Tobacco Ordinance. For a copy of the proposed amendments,
