General Council briefed on Health & Wellness efforts

& Wellness Center in 2018 during
the Sunday, Jan. 7, General Coun-
cil meeting held in the Tribal Com-
munity Center.

Rowe said Health & Wellness’s
priorities continue to be quality of
care, access and satisfaction.
“This last year, we’ve been very
busy, very productive,” Rowe said.
“We’ve had all of our departments
working on different projects to
improve the access and quality of
our health clinic.”
Rowe’s presentation was separat-
ed into discussing medical, dental,
behavioral health, optometry,
pharmacy, community health and
the business office.
Individual departmental high-

• Medical: A new hepatitis C elim-

• Culture Committee meets at 5:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of the

• Editorial Board meets monthly in Room 204 in the Tribal Governance
Center. Chair: Siobhan Taylor.
• Education Committee meets at 5:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of
the month in the Adult Education building. Chair: Tammy Cook.
• Elders Committee meets at 10 a.m. the third Wednesday of the month
in the Elders Activity Center. Chair: Gladys Hobbs.
• Enrollment Board meets quarterly in Room 204 of the Governance
Center. Chair: Michael Mercier.
• Fish & Wildlife Committee meets at 5:30 p.m. the second Tuesday
of the month at the Natural Resources building off Hebo Road. Chair:
Tyson Mercier.
• Health Committee meets at 10 a.m. the second Monday of the month
in the Health & Wellness Center. Chair: Patti Tom-Martin.
• Housing Board meets at 3 p.m. the third Thursday of the month in the
Housing Department conference room. Chair: Matt Thomas.
• Powwow Special Event Board meets monthly at noon at the Community

practices,” Mercier said. “A lot of
these small steps add up over time.”
In other action, the next General
Council meeting will be held at 11
a.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, at the Monarch
Hotel and Convention Center in
Clackamas. Tribal Council Chair-
woman Cheryle A. Kennedy said that
a session to seek input from Tribal
members about potential advisory
votes to be placed on the September
Tribal Council ballot will be held
after the General Council meeting.
Turnout is important, she added.

icate and five Health & Wellness
Center gift bags were given away.

the Elders Committee were Lou-
ise Coulson, Cherie Butler, Linda
Brandon and Diana George.

Social Services offers
clothing gift cards
The Social Service Department’s program to provide school clothing for
Tribal member children has funding in the form of Old Navy gift cards.
To receive a gift card, contact Social Services for an application. The
cards are for Tribal member children who have not accessed the program
this year.
