Book Review: “Wild Life” (elementary fiction) by Cynthia DeFe- lice: When 12-year-old Erik Carlson’s parents are both deployed to Iraq, his big plans are dashed when he is sent to live with his grandparents in the middle of nowhere: North Dakota. This is a coming-of-age story about adventure and survival, and living off the land with just a dog as a companion. It is also a story about getting to know family and understanding how family secrets can change and shape a person. Erik learns about sacrifices and the pain of loss as he faces the challenges of growing up. Donations: Our thanks to Keri Kimsey, Genifer Grout, Saman- tha Dala, Steve Zarko, Barbara Feehan, Debbie Marrington, Tina Gilbert, Beverly Kloony and Frank Hostler for their contributions to the library collection.
