Radio station seeking ‘Indian Time’ host
Public radio station KRVM-FM in Eugene is seeking a host for its “Indian
Time” program that airs 7 to 9 p.m. Thursdays.
Enthusiasm for and familiarity with Native American music and culture
are required. Previous broadcasting experience and a passion for radio
are desirable.
People interested in applying for the volunteer position should send an
e-mail to Program Director Stu Allen at stu@krvm.org. 

Grand Ronde Police slate
extra patrols during weekend
The Grand Ronde Tribal Police Department will be participating in a
high-visibility enforcement grant sponsored by Oregon Impact, the Oregon
Department of Transportation and the National Highway Transportation
Safety Administration.
Tribal police will be working during the Grand Ronde Contest Powwow
weekend of Aug. 18-20 and the Aug. 21 eclipse and will have extra patrols
specifically geared toward stopping impaired drivers, as well as careless,
reckless and other aggressive driving habits.
Tribal police want to remind everyone that driving under the influence
of intoxicants, whether it is alcohol, controlled substances or prescription
medications, is enforceable on premises open to the public, which includes
Uyxat Powwow Grounds as well as highways, roadways or streets, Sgt.
Rod McAllister said.
“The Grand Ronde Tribal Police Department encourages everyone to
enjoy these events, but to do so responsibly,” McAllister said. 

• Culture Committee meets at 5:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month
at the Grand Ronde Food Bank/iskam mfkhmfk haws, 9675 Grand

• Editorial Board meets at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, in the second
floor conference room near Publications in the Tribal Governance Center.

• Education Committee meets at 5:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of
the month in the Adult Education building. Chair: Tammy Cook.
• Elders Committee meets at 10 a.m. the third Wednesday of the month
