Graduation set for June 23
The annual Grand Ronde Graduation Celebration will be held 6
p.m. Friday, June 23, in the Tribal gym, 9615 Grand Ronde Road.
The theme of this year’s celebration is “What you plant now … you
will harvest later.”
The ceremony recognizes the accomplishments of Tribal gradu-
ates from kindergarten through college-level degrees. Dinner will
be provided.
If you graduated during the 2016-17 academic year, contact the
Tribal Education Department at education@grandronde.org or by
calling 503-879-2275 to be added to the list.

Cheryle A. Kennedy listen to a speaker during the Affiliated Tribes of
Northwest Indians’ Mid-Year Convention held at the Hilton DoubleTree
Lloyd Center in Portland on Tuesday, May 23. After the call to order, the
Grand Ronde Honor Guard carried in the flags, Jon A. George gave the
invocation and Kennedy gave some welcome remarks. In addition, the
Grand Ronde Canoe Family performed at Culture Night on Wednesday,
May 24. Tribal Council Chairman Reyn Leno and Tribal Council
members Jack Giffen Jr. and Tonya Gleason-Shepek also attended
the convention that was held through Friday, May 26. Public Affairs
Administrative Assistant Chelsea Clark and Economic Development
Administrative Assistant Meghan Zimbrick also staffed a Grand Ronde
Tribal informational table at the convention.
