Food Bank provides
boxes, seeks help
The Grand Ronde Food Bank – iskam mfkhmfk haws – is operated
by Marion-Polk Food Share, which has been leading the fight to end
hunger since 1987 because no one should be hungry.
Recipients of SNAP, TANF, SSI or LIHEAP assistance automat-
ically qualify for assistance at the Grand Ronde Food Bank, 9675
Grand Ronde Road. No one will be turned away in need of a food box.
Upcoming food box distributions are scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Friday, March 17; 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 22; and 9 a.m. to
1 p.m. Friday, March 31.
“We believe that everyone deserves to have enough to eat,” says
Food Bank Coordinator Francene Ambrose. “You are welcome to
get a food box at each of our regular weekly distributions. No one
will be turned away in need of a food box.”
Those who are unable to pick up a food box can fill out an autho-
rized representative form and that person can pick up a food box
on your behalf. The authorization is good for one year.
In addition, the Willamina VFW Auxiliary No. 4211 will be holding
a fundraiser to benefit the Food Bank starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday,
March 23. There will be silent and oral auctions throughout the
evening. People wanting to donate an auction item should contact
Food Bank Coordinator Francene Ambrose (see contact information
below).
The Food Bank continues to seek volunteers to help with repack-
ing food, putting food on the shelves, handing out food boxes and
end-of-month inventory.
In addition, the Food Bank is participating in a program called
Fresh Alliance in which volunteers pick up food donations directly
from area stores. Volunteers with a truck who could pick up at these
stores at least once a week and a partner to ride along and help
load are being sought.
Call to ensure someone is available to assist. People also can sign
up for a monthly e-mail for the Food Bank calendar and events, as
well as follow the Food Bank on Facebook.

American Legion Post hosts breakfast
McMINNVILLE — The American Legion Post 21 will be holding a Battle
of the Branches Breakfast for the five major military branches in March
and April.
The breakfasts will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at the Post, 126 N.E.
Atlantic St. The schedule is Army on Sunday, March 26; Marine Corps
on Sunday, April 9; and Air Force on Sunday, April 23.
Breakfast will cost $7 per person.

Need something notarized?
Tribal Court staff is available at no charge for notaries 8 a.m. to
5 p.m. Monday though Friday with the exception of noon to 1 p.m.
Please be sure to bring a photo ID with you. If you have any questions,
contact the court at 503-879-2303. 
Request for Qualifications
The Tribe is seeking Requests for Qualifications from individuals inter-
ested in serving as the Chief Judge of the Tribal Court. This is a part-time,
Tribal Council-appointed position with a term of two years. To obtain a
copy of the RFQ, contact Angela Fasana at 503-879-4596 or angela.fasana@
grandronde.org. Proposals must be received by 5 p.m. March 15, 2017. 
Board seeking younger veterans
The Tribal Veterans Special Event Board is recruiting younger
veterans – Iraqi and Afghanistan veterans – to join.
“Our committee is getting older,” said Veterans SEB Chairman Steve
Bobb Sr., who is a Vietnam War-era Marine Corps veteran.
Members of the Special Event Board attend events as flag carriers
and represent the Tribe and their branch of service.

Clothes Closet open Monday, Friday
The Clothes Closet is open from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the first and third
Fridays of the month and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. all other Fridays on the Tribal
campus near the Elders Activity Center at the end of Blacktail Drive.
The Clothes Closet accepts clothing, small appliances, small pieces of
furniture, electronics and household goods that are clean and in good
condition. It does not accept books, large TVs or large furniture, but
there is a community board where people can post those items. Donations
are accepted during regular business hours. For more information or
