The scholarship is awarded annually to a female undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a teaching career. Recipients must be Oregon residents, and contributed to the well-being and best interest of Oregon State. Fasana, who is a graduate of Willamina High School and is a member of the Oregon State Class of 2018, plans on teaching upper elementary level students in her hometown or in the local area. “With my degree, I hope to impact the lives of many children, becoming a mentor and role model and helping children strive to be their best,” she told the Oregon State University Foundation newsletter. Linville, a former teacher, established scholarships in her and her sister’s name in the early 1970s to support students planning to become teachers. The sisters spent their careers teaching in Elkton, Wallowa, Medford, Hood River, Parkrose and Milwaukie. Fasana participated in a three-week internship at the American Muse- um of Natural History in New York City this past summer. She said that receiving the Linville scholarship made her dream of becoming a teacher a probability instead of a possibility.  Skookum and Veterans Affairs clinic visits It’s important to remember that when you are seen for health care services at a Veterans Affairs’ clinic that you do not list your Skoo- kum Health Assistance Program (SHAP) as your insurance cover- age.
