Mushroom Seminar set for Oct. 17
The Fish & Wildlife Committee’s annual Mushroom Seminar will be
held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, in the Elders Activity Center, 48940
Blacktail Drive.
Participants will learn how to identify many edible mushrooms, such
as chanterelles, and will be provided suggestions on where to find them.
There also will be door prizes and a display of mushrooms picked locally.
Dessert will be served.

Ken Lafferty, Darlene’s husband, walked on on June 6, 2014, and he
served on the Tribe’s Timber Committee and was a Natural Resources
Department patrol officer. In the background, family members take

A sign marking “Ken’s Thin Logging Unit,” located on the Tribe’s
Reservation, was dedicated in the memory of Tribal Elder Ken Lafferty
on Wednesday, Sept. 21. The sign was designed by Tribal Forester
Andrew Puerini and approved and paid for by the Tribe’s Timber
Committee. Tribal Cultural Education Specialist Brian Krehbiel drummed
and sang during the ceremony.
The Clothes Closet is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday and Friday on
the Tribal campus near the Elders Activity Center at the end of Blacktail
Drive. It accepts clothes, small appliances, small pieces of furniture, elec-
tronics and household goods that are clean and in good condition. It does
not accept books, large TVs or large furniture, but there is a community
board where people can post those items.
Donations are accepted during regular business hours.

Bike helmets available
The Tribe’s Social Services Department has bicycle helmets
available for distribution. Those needing a helmet need to visit the
department and sign a helmet application, as well as get fitted.

AMERICAN INDIAN TEACHER PROGRAM
Red Shawl Project
In honor of survivors of trauma and violence the Domestic
Violence and Sexual Assault Prevention Program is inviting
Tribal employees and community members to participate
in making Red Shawls.
We will be offering a series of workshops where we will
provide the individuals with the materials to make shawls.
We have materials to make 25 shawls, so please sign-up
early to reserve your spot.
