Food Bank provides
boxes, seeks help
If you receive SNAP, TANF, SSI or LIHEAP assistance, you auto-
matically qualify for assistance at the Grand Ronde Food Bank, 9675
Grand Ronde Road.
Those who are unable to pick up a food box may ill out an authorized
representative form and that person can pick up a food box on your
behalf. The authorization is good for one year.
Upcoming food box distributions will be held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday,
Sept. 2; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday,
Sept. 16; 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday,
Sept. 30.
The Food Bank is continuing to offer preservation and canning classes
with the next one starting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, focusing
on apples. The Food Bank also is sponsoring a family friendly event
celebrating all things food-related called mfkhmfk mania from 10 a.m.
to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, in the Grand Ronde gym.
The Grand Ronde Food Bank – iskam mfkhmfk haws – is run by
Marion-Polk Food Share, which has been leading the ight to end hunger
since 1987 because no one should be hungry.
“We believe that everyone deserves to have enough to eat,” says Food
Bank Coordinator Francene Ambrose. “You are welcome to get a food
box at each of our regular weekly distributions. No one will be turned
away in need of a food box.”
The Food Bank continues to seek volunteers to help repacking food,
putting food on shelves, handing out food boxes and end-of-the-month
inventory. In addition, the Food Bank is participating in a program
called Fresh Alliance where volunteers pick up food donations direct-
ly from area stores. Volunteers with a truck who could pick up these
donations at least once a week and a partner to ride and help load the
truck are being sought. Mandatory volunteer training is scheduled for
1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13.
Call on non-distribution days to ensure someone is available to as-
sist you. You also can sign up for a monthly e-mail for the Food Bank
calendar and events, as well as follow the Food Bank on Facebook.

Spirit Mountain Gaming, Inc.
Board of Director’s Position Opening
Spirit Mountain Gaming, Inc. invites dynamic business
oriented individuals to apply to the Spirit Mountain Gaming,
Inc. Board of Directors. There is an available board position
open for a qualiied applicant who possesses the appropriate
business knowledge and experience; preference will be applied
to Tribal members.
The SMGI Board of Directors is responsible to the Confeder-
ated Tribes of Grand Ronde Tribal Council and oversees iscal
accountability, budgets, policies, procedures and business op-
erations of Spirit Mountain Casino.
The SMGI Board meets once a month on the average but
more if necessary. Each board member receives a stipend each
month for their participation. Travel reimbursement is limited
to the six (6) county service area for the Confederated Tribes of
Grand Ronde, Polk, Yamhill, Marion, Tillamook, Multnomah
and/or Washington.
Qualiications should include general business knowledge,
experience in hospitality/customer service driven environment,
10 years of experience in a responsible business position and
strong inancial experience. Knowledge of Native American
owned and operated organizations preferred but not mandatory.
There should also be a demonstrated ability to be responsive to
the goals of the business and its increasing dynamic character
with appropriate analytical and communication skills.
Ability to pass a thorough background check and obtain a
gaming license is necessary.
Deadline to apply is Oct. 15, 2016.
