Program deadlines set
There are now only two Higher Education programs depending on wheth-
er you are full-time or part-time. The deadline for the Full-Time College
program is at least 30 days before the start of classes. The deadline for
the Part-Time College program is at least 10 days before the start of class.

What is an internship?
An internship (full-time/part-time) is a real-world experience related to
your career goals and interests.
Internships can be what helps you stand out in your job interviews
after college. Most employers look for a combination of formal education
and experience. It may, but does not have to be related/connected to your
academic major or minor.
Not only are you gaining valuable hands-on experience, you are also
networking and making connections to professionals in your future career
fi eld. CTGR Higher Education encourages students to explore internship
opportunities to supplement their college education.
Oregon University System admissions
and scholarship deadlines
The OUS schools have their own priority deadline for admissions. This
is also their university scholarship deadline. Don’t miss your opportunity
to attend your top school choice and a chance to receive a scholarship.

New Library Staff: Rachelle Kellogg is our new Tribal
Library aide. She works in the library Thursday through Sat-
urday.
New: The Tribal Library added 20 new large print books to
the Adult Fiction collection, including books by James Patterson.
New: “Get Fired Up for Reading”: This reading incentive
program begins Feb. 1 and ends Feb. 29. It is for all ages. Make
sure you let us know which books you have read and we will
add a scale to the library dragon with your name and book title
for each book read. Last year we had 73 readers who read 296
books! Our goal is to read more than 300 books this year and
we need your help to meet our goal.
Saturday Movie Time at Noon: Third Saturday of the
Month:
• Feb. 20: “The Jungle Book”
• March 19, April 16 and May 21 will be movie days.
Donations: Our thanks to the many people who contributed
to our library collection in 2015. Approximately one-third of the
library collection has been donated. We appreciate the gener-
osity of our friends of the library.
Reminder: Donated items must be clean and in good condi-
tion.
Book Review: “Lost Canyon” by Nina Revoyr
I chose this book because I appreciate a suspenseful adventure
story that explores how people react to danger. The book begins
by setting up the characters and you connect with them early
on as the story gives you a front row seat into their lives, which
could not be more different from each other.
The four main characters set out on a backpacking trip into
the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Each of them is drawn to the
mountains for their own reasons.
Their route passes high lakes and snowcapped peaks and
offers all the freedom and exhilaration they’d hoped for. But
when they stumble onto someone who doesn’t want to be found,
the group fi nds itself faced with a series of dangerous confl icts,
confrontations with nature and an all-out struggle for survival.
I suggest that anyone who enjoys a thriller packed with ad-
venture read this book. It is available our Tribal Library, so

Inter-Library Loan services: The Tribal Library partners
with Oregon State Library to offer “library to library” inter-li-
brary loan services. By completing the inter-library loan form,
Tribal Library patrons may request items from the Oregon
State Library collection. Items will be couriered to and from the
Tribal Library. OSL lending policies apply for return of items.
