Food Bank provides
boxes, seeks help
If you receive SNAP, TANF, SSI or LIHEAP assistance, you au-
tomatically qualify for assistance at the Grand Ronde Food Bank,
9675 Grand Ronde Road.
No one will be turned away in need of a food box.
Upcoming food box distribution dates will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fri-
day, Jan. 15; 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Friday, Jan. 29.
The Food Bank will be closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day on
Monday, Jan. 18.
Those who are unable to pick up a food box may fi ll out an autho-
rized representative form and that person can pick up a food box
on your behalf. The authorization is good for one year.
The Grand Ronde Food Bank – iskam mfkhmfk haws – is run by
Marion-Polk Food Share, which has been leading the fi ght to end hunger
since 1987 because no one should be hungry.
“It takes a community to fi ght local hunger,” says Food Bank Co-
ordinator Francene Ambrose. “Your gift of time and talent means so
much to individuals, families and children who are struggling. We are
looking for assistance in repacking food, putting food on the shelves,
handing out food boxes on distribution days and end-of-the-month
inventory. Groups are welcome and other opportunities are available.”
Call on non-distribution days to ensure someone is available to as-
sist you. You also can sign up for a monthly e-mail for the Food Bank
calendar and events, as well as follow the Food Bank on Facebook.

Grand Ronde Preschool is expanding
The Grand Ronde Preschool is expanding and is seeking Tribal families
with children aged 3 or 4 before Sept. 1, 2015.
Call 503-879-2161 to request an application or contact Early Childhood
Education Manager Angie Blackwell at 503-879-2287 for more information.
If you have an application on fi le, you do not need to re-apply. The class-
room is scheduled to open in mid to late February, although the exact date
is not yet known. n
LIHEAP program available
The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, which helps
pay heating bills, is now available for eligible Tribal members in the
six-county service area and Clackamas County.
LIHEAP is a fi rst-come, fi rst-served program and income criteria
applies.

CPA returning to Grand Ronde
Doris Rose, a certifi ed public accountant, will be returning to the Grand
Ronde community.
She will be in the Grand Ronde Housing Department offi ce on Tuesday
and Thursday between Feb. 2 and April 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. She
will be at the Portland offi ce, 4445 S.W. Barbur Blvd., from 10 a.m. to 2
p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 10 and 24.

WIC visits Health & Wellness Center
Pregnant? Breastfeeding? Does your family include a child under
the age of 5?
If so, you may qualify for the Women, Infants and Children program.
With WIC, people can receive answers to nutritional questions and
access fruits and vegetables, whole grains, eggs, milk, cheese, juice,
cereal and more.
A WIC representative visits the Health & Wellness Center on the
fi rst and third Tuesday of the month, which would be Jan. 19 and
Feb. 2 and 16.
Walk-ins are welcome between 8:45 and 11 a.m. When WIC clients
arrive at the Health & Wellness Center, they should enter through
the Wellness Department located at the back of the medical wing.

Clothes Closet open Monday, Friday
The Clothes Closet is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday and
Friday on the Tribal campus near the Elders Activity Center at the
end of Blacktail Drive.
It accepts clothes, small appliances, small pieces of furniture, elec-
tronics and household goods that are clean and in good condition.
It does not accept books, large TVs or large furniture, but there is a
community board where people can post those items.
Donations are accepted during regular business hours.
