Senatorial hike

Tribal Council Secretary Toby McClary, right, accompanied Oregon Sen.
Jeff Merkley on a hike on Lower Table Rock near Medford on Monday,
May 25. They were accompanied by Tribal Attorney Rob Greene. “We
did get to bend his ear on a couple different occasions on a couple
issues important to the Tribe,” McClary said, adding that one of the
issues discussed was the Grand Ronde Reservation Act amendment
that would streamline how the Tribe takes land into trust. “Overall, I
thought it was a productive time. I don’t think it is typical that you get
three to four hours with a member of Congress. I think it was good to
have that time.”
