S moke S ignals may 15, 2014 Hey, Bulldogs Veterans invited to WWII Memorial dedication World War II veterans are invited to the dedication of the Oregon World War II Memorial on the west end of the State Capitol grounds in Salem at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 6. Tribal Veterans Special Event Board Chairman Steve Bobb Sr. suggests that people attending the event arrive early. “We are also sending a personal invite to the ones we have the names of,” Bobb said about Tribal World War II veterans who are still alive. n TЭnas Intervention Submitted photo Tribal members, from left, Shane Thomas, Michael Reyes and Justin Fasana participated in the third annual Mr. Bulldog Pageant at Willamina High School on Saturday, April 26. The event raises funds for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital at OHSU in Portland. The Mr. Bulldog competition started in early March and featured 10 boys, each with a female escort. Contestants participated in myriad events on a weekly basis to earn points. Events included Dawg Jams, a dodge ball tournament and a student auction. They also participated in fundraisers from the sale of doughnuts, spaghetti dinners and bake sales. During the pageant, Fasana received the crown and title of Mr. Bulldog. Contestants raised more than $9,000 and the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde donated $3,000 to bring the total to more than $12,000.
