DECREE CHANGING NAME
Based on the allegations set forth in the Petition for Change of
Name filed by Petitioner on March 14, 2014, the finds as follows:
1. This Court has jurisdiction over the Petitioner and the subject
matter of the Petition herein;
2. The Petitioner is over 18 years of age;
3. The Petitioner is an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes
of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon;
4. The Petitioner has not petitioned and been granted a change of
name by the Tribal Court within the past twelve (12) months;
5. The Petitioner has served creditors and a former spouse with the
required notice of the name change, and no other persons are
entitled to notice of the Petition.
NOW THEREFORE IT IS ORDERED AND DECREED:
1. The name of the Petitioner is changed from Karen Lynnette Duran
to Karen Lynnette Blomquist;
2. The Clerk of the Tribal Court shall cause a copy of this order to
be published in the Tribal Newsletter;
3. The Clerk of the Tribal Court shall submit a certified copy of this
order to the Grand Ronde Tribal Enrollment office;
4. The Clerk of the Court shall provide a certified copy of the Order
to the Oregon State Department of Vital Statistics.

3. The Petitioner is an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes
of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon;
4. The Petitioner has not petitioned and been granted a change of
name by the Tribal Court within the past twelve (12) months;
5. The Petitioner has no creditors and no former spouse upon which
service of the required notice of the name change must be made
and no other persons are entitled to notice of the Petition.

Grant Thorsett, a retired Willamette University biology professor,
places an academic hood on Tribal Elder Kathryn Harrison as she
receives an honorary doctorate from the university during its
commencement ceremony in Salem on Sunday, May 11. Harrison
was honored for her outstanding accomplishments, particularly her
leadership in achieving federal recognition for the Grand Ronde Tribe
and her continuing dedication to serving the community. On the left is
Rebecca Dobkins, an anthropology professor at Willamette.
Mending Broken Hearts training set
The White Bison Mending Broken Hearts training returns to the Confed-
erated Tribes of Grand Ronde on Wednesday through Friday, June 18-20,
at the Tribal Education Center, 9615 Grand Ronde Road.
The purpose of the training is to offer a culturally based way of heal-
ing from grief, loss and intergenerational trauma, especially for Native
American people in the United States and Canada.
The training is free, but people must register to attend. Participants
are asked for a three-day commitment and must attend from 8 a.m. to 5
p.m. each day.

The training is sponsored by the Tribe’s Behavioral Health Program and
funded through a Meth and Suicide Prevention Initiative grant. n
Tourney seeking players 50 or older
The Pacific Northwest Masters Basketball Tournament will be held
Monday, July 28, through Friday, Aug. 1, in the Eugene area and will
be the first premier competitive Masters Hoops tournament on the West
Coast for players 50 and older. Organizers are seeking participation from
Native American teams.
