CTGR Eula Petite Scholarship
The Eula Petite Scholarship was established and dedicated to longtime
Tribal member and educator Eula Petite and is awarded to a student in
the Education field at the graduate level. Must be postmarked by May
23, 2014. Visit the Tribal Higher Education website for more information

Grand Ronde Head Start/Preschool (0-5) 2013 Annual Report is
complete and available for viewing. To request a copy, contact Sandy

Looking for scholarships?
There are numerous scholarship opportunities offered for students to apply to
each year. The majority of scholarships for fall term/semester are due between
January and April of each year. Don’t miss your chance to apply for free money
for college. The Tribal Higher Education programs are here to assist you in your
application process. You also can utilize a scholarship search engine to help
you locate scholarships. If you use a scholarship search site, be sure to read
the privacy policy to ensure you are using a site that will not sell your contact
information. A recommended search site to use is www.kaarme.com. n
CTGR Youth Education
Elementary K-5
2014 Summer Program
Applications available beginning: April 7, 2014
Applications may be submitted to the Youth Education front
desk during the week of April 28 to May 2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This week of enrollment into the program is open to all current
K-5th grade Tribal, Native and direct-descendant youth whose
parents or guardians who will be employed, registered in school,
or participating in a training program during
the summer months.
LIBRARY HOURS:
Monday – Friday: 9 a . m . – 6 p . m .
(closed Monday - Friday: noon – 1 p . m .)
Saturday: 10 a . m . – 2 p . m .
Library staff: Part-time Reference Librarian Carmen Mercier
resigned her position at the Tribal Library in March. Please join
us in wishing Carmen “good luck” in her new ventures. We ap-
preciate Early Childhood Education staff filling in at the library
until a new staff member is hired. Thanks much Keri, Michelle,
Denaee and Tracy.
Movie Night: First Thursday of the month at 4 p.m. (Jan.–
April) These movies are General–PG, family type films. Youth
ages 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult, 18 or older.

April is National Poetry Month! Library staff will post a
“Poem a Day” on the bulletin board during the month of April.
Send us one of your favorite poems to post during April.
New items in the Collection: Native American Collection –
“The Militarization of Indian Country” by Winona LaDuke, “Where
the Salmon Run, the Life and Legacy of Billy Frank Jr.” by Trova
Heffernan and “Seeing Red, Hollywood’s Pixeled Skins,” edited
by LeAnne Howe. Fiction & non-fiction collection – “Winterdance”
by Gary Paulsen, “D.B. Cooper’s Parachute” by William Sullivan
and “Girlchild” by Tupelo Hassman. Plus many other titles in the
Children & Youth collection.
Donations: Many thanks to the following contributors to the
library collection: Margo Ordaz, Patty Mercier, Jordan Tinoco and
Kendall from Books Are Fun! We appreciate the great additions
to the library collection.
REMINDER: The library no longer accepts VHS or cassette
tapes and/or the mass-produced paperbacks. Donated items must
be clean and in good condition. Thank you.
The Tribal Library is a CCRLS Circulation Site: Use your
Chemeketa Cooperative Regional Library Services library card
to place electronic holds on resources in the 18 partner libraries
and items will be couriered here for check out and can be checked
back in here as well.
Inter-Library Loan services: The Tribal Library partners with
Oregon State Library to offer “library-to-library” inter-library loan
services. By completing the inter-library loan form, library patrons
may request items from the Oregon State Library collection. OSL
lending policies apply for return of items.
Applications will not be accepted before this open enrollment
time to ensure that all qualifying families and youth
have an equal opportunity to sign up and participate.
